Guest guest
Doership and Enjoyership are in Nature Only, Not in Self In the Gangaji (holy river) one person drowns and dies, then Gangaji does not incur sin for the drowning, and another one is immersing in the holy water and bathing, but Gangaji does not accrue virtues for the bathing. Gangaji neither has the sentiments of egoism (doership) nor the taintedness of intellect (in terms of experiencing / enjoying). Doership (kartaah) and enjoyership (Bhoktaah) are in Nature (Prakriti), not in the Self. Therefore an enlightened, exalted soul, remaining established in the Self holds " I do nothing " - " naiva kinchitkaromeeti yuktoh manyate tattvavit, " (Gita 5/8). All the worldly activities such as eating, drinking, sleeping, doing job, service, business etc., as well as. all the spiritual activities such as listening to Vendantic texts (shravana), cognition (manana)and assimilation (nididdhyaasan) etc., are taking place in Nature (Prakriti) only. In the Self no action, none whatsoever, is ever possible. Therefore an aspirant (sadhak) should not physically and externally renounce the worldly activities sanctioned by the scriptures as well as, spiritual activities, but in them, he should not regard that the activities are happening by him and that these activities are being performed for himself. Attaching importance to activities, is in essence attaching importance to the insentient (inert). If an aspirant attaches importance to actions, then in spite of engaging in spiritual discipline for years, obvious progress and benefit is not perceived in him. Therefore in a sadhak's inner being (antahkaran) there should be importance attached to only the sentient (chetan) side, rather than the insentient (jad, inert) side. A sadhak is not the body, while an action is performed through the body alone. The nature of the Self (sadhak) is Divinity (chinmay), Existence (sattaa), and in all of Existence, there is no actions that are taking place. The nature of the world is actions and objects. Doership and enjoyership are not in us (Self), but because of ignorance they have been assumed to be in us (Self). In spite of believing and assuming this, in essence we are free from doership and enjoyership - " Sharirasthopi Kaunteya na karoti ne lipyate. " The point is that in spite of assuming that we (Self) are established in the body, in fact, we are detached from the body. In spite of the believing that we are in bondage, really we are liberated. It is extremely essential for an aspirant (sadhak) to accept this TRUTH.
