Q13 Every body would have heard of Chitragupta. Who are the parents of

Chitragupta? Who appointed him as the assistant of Yama? Who are all his wives?

Where do we have a temple for him in south?

 

A13 Chitra gupta is the son of Sun and Niladevi. He was born in the month of

chithira and star chithira. Hence called as Chithragupta. Chithrapanjami is

celebrated in favour of him. Lord Siva appointed him as the assistant of Yama.

His three wives are prabhavathi, leelavathi and Karnikai

In north India there are lot of temples for him. In the south Chitragupta temple

is at kancheepuram in the Nellukkara theru. Worship of Chitragupta will give

longevity and health.
