Eyes – Why it is an important

organ in our Body?

The first signal indicating sleepiness is that one’s eyes start to close. None

of the other sense organs (like nose, mouth or ears) show any significant

indication.

Similarly, when one swoons (loses consciousness), his eyes slowly close.

While waking someone up, the first thing you expect them to do is to open the

eyes.

Sleep or loss of consciousness is the state of ‘Mano laya’ (the resting of

the mind). Thus the state of ‘Mano laya’ is clearly indicated by the eye.

If a person is angry at heart, it is immediately reflected through his eyes

(which turn red). Thus emotions of the heart are also depicted by the eye.

Likewise, if a person possess deep devotion or Jnana in his ‘manas’, that is

indicated through the eyes too.

This is why our scriptures give utmost importance to ‘kataksha’ (the divine

vision) of the Guru or God falling on the devotee/disciple.

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
