Guest guest
The Source of all Goodness & Joy lies Within by Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha Normally people can do no more than eat, sleep, marry, make merry and reproduce. Humanness therefore will commence only from the time the mind begins to think of subjecting these needs and urges to some specific disciplines and ideals. Ideals are first to be properly conceived of and then to be accepted. Thereupon, you have to work hard to practice and realize them. Every time the practitioner will have to use his viveka and pourusha, the self-derived power called WILL. He may take to the thought of the Almighty, if he is one who believes in God, and the reliance on HIS supreme Power and Grace, in bringing the power called `will'. Even the thought of Almighty is a thought of man, and so its power and benignness will depend upon the sincerity and reliance with which you are able to culture it. Think of the devotion to God and its place in man's life. If you accept God and His all-powerfulness, then can there be anything which cannot be averted or remedied with His Grace? You, a human, may be limited and hence may fail in some of your ventures. But will God? Is His Grace reserved or rationed? How can He then be regarded as Goodness and Gracious? One who thinks in this way and moulds his mind and actions accordingly, will bring out from within him the best of his own inlying goodness and powers. `Will' is a trait and virtue to be cultured and enhanced as is any other habit or virtue. Devotion or bhakti is also another lofty virtue, to be cultured, from which man can have immense benefits. Do not be just a human, living a life with no basic thought and lofty ambitions. Let your life be one of the mind, of the heart, of the budhdhi, not just one of the flesh. Make the inner faculties manifest the best of purity, virtues and wisdom in ample measure. Grow always after worthy ideals and values. Love and serve the others. But your service can better be to improve their hearts and brains, not merely the bodies of flesh and bones. As for your gains in the process, they are too invaluable and numerous. The source of all goodness, beauty and joys lies nowhere but within your own body. If you can get entry into that within, nothing more and outer will you need to rejoice and fulfill your life. Blessed are those who realize this truth well early in their life and act upon it with their full hearts and minds.
