Prayer for Detachment from World and Devotion of God

 

All beings are a part of You my Lord - it is said in the Gita (15-7).

You are our father and we are Your children. A father naturally loves

His child. There is a feeling of " you are my very own. " But forgetting

You, we have become entrapped in Your illusive powers. " So maayaabas

bhayaoo gosaayi. Bandhyo keer markat ki naayi. " (Manas, Uttar. 117/2).

Now, only Your grace can release us from your illusionary forces. My

eternal father, You are almighty and all capable. There is no one else

who is equal to You in releasing us from these worldly influences.

Therefore I pray to You my Lord - Oh father! Oh Supreme Almighty One!

Only You can release us from these worldly influences. We are unable to do this

with our own strength. You say, that we have the strength, but we do not see

such strength in us. You have infinite, boundless, ever increasing strength, for

which there is no comparison.

 

Though having this strength, we have become entangled and a slave to the

illusionary world. You please think! You are a Father, aren't You? A father must

be concerned about His children. osn't it? A son must be cared for by His

father, otherwise who else will do so? Why will someone else feel any

compassion? Only the Eternal Father can have such compassion. Therefore with

Your compassion and mercy, save us Oh Lord! Being Your children, who else can we

tell? Who else is more powerful than You? If there is some one in Your sight,

then do let us know. We are unable to see anyone. It is also said in the Gita,

that there is no one else like You, then how can any one be greater than You?

Therefore this work will have to be carried out by You. For You, it is simply!

Like a child's play ! but our work will be done.

 

Oh Lord! we have one problem. You say that we have the strength, yet I

cannot remember that strength. We know how to get entangled, but we

don't seem to envision the strength to release ourselves. If we saw that

strength in us, why would we call on You? We ourselves would solve our own

problems. We don't have the strength. But even if we do have it, then You reveal

it to us. If it is to happen, it will only happen with Your grace. Besides Your

grace, we do not see anything else.

 

All know that You are everyone's inner being. Oh Lord! We are seeking

the truth. Within we do not have any other desire. Oh God! You bless us with

Your complete and perfect devotion and make this mind free of all faults and

worldly desires.
