Guest guest
Radhe Krishna To all, Three terms find common usage in spiritual texts and discussions “ Vidhi(Fate), Kaala (time) and Prarabdha (past actions). Are these one and the same? They are not! There is a subtle, yet specific difference. The Lord orchestrates his Prapancha Lila (Divine Cosmic play) with these three entities. For any event to occur, (Time) determines the exact time when an event should occur in one's life and the duration it should last. Prarabdha, which is the effect of the past action, determines the nature and kind of the event. The word Vidhi essentially means rules. Vidhi is the one that determines the details of situation in which any event occurs in terms of place/person/opportunity and time. For instance, if a person has to undergo a suffering, say a disease, the factor Kaala decides when the suffering is to befall and how long the suffering shall last. Prarabdha decides what disease he suffers from and the nature of pain. Vidhi decides all the details of the situation in which he is during his suffering, like those around him, his facilities, his monetary status and the like. Let us take the episode of the elephant king Gajendra from Srimad Bhagavatam. Gajendra had to suffer pain in the clutches of the crocodile for over a thousand years before he got relief. This is the ˜kaala for which he had to undergo the ordeal. It is the Prarabdha of Gajendra, which is the curse hurled by Sage Agasthya on King Indradyumna that decided that he must be an elephant and suffer in the clutches of a crocodile. Similarly, it is the Prarabdha of ˜Hoohoo " the Gandharva to suffer as a crocodile brought about by Sage Devala's curse. Fate brought about the situation in which these two were linked together and the Lord's Disc, " Sudarshana " saved Gajendra and killed the crocodile, thus releasing both from their curses. -------------------- Special!
