Guest guest
Sympathy is feeling for another. It is compassion. It is pity. It is oneness with others in their striving and suffering. Sympathy is a feeling of compassion for another's suffering. It is fellow-feeling. It is the quality of being affected by the condition of another, with feelings corresponding in kind, if not in degree A few more smiles of silent sympathy, a look of sympathy, a few more tender and gentle words, a few more mind acts, will pave a long way to contribute to the happiness of the suffering humanity. True sympathy is putting yourself in another's place. To ease another's headache is to forget your own. To mitigate another's grief is to alleviate or dispel your own. Sympathy is the key that fits the lock of any heart. Shame to those hearts of granite that cannot melt at the sufferings of others. Open your hearts to sympathy. Sympathy prepares the mind for receiving the impressions of virtue. There can be no politeness or courtesy without sympathy. Sympathy is the universal solvent.
