Let me put it as, it is a ‘litmus’ test for the purity of blood and quality in and of a person, analyzed and arrived at under Astrology advocated rules. I also wish to remind the Qualities attributed in the functional influences of Mars.  MARS :: Rules Aries (Mesha) and Scorpio (Viruchika); Sex: Male; Body part : Head; Gem: Carol; Color : Red; Sense: Sight; Parts of Body ruled: External sex organs, left ear, muscular system, blood, uterus, pelvis, and prostate. Professions: Hunters, Military or Police personals, dentists, surgeons, butchers, and barbers. Wealth is acquired through metals, battles, gold, cooking, acquisition of land, acts of oppression, and spying. Mars represents strength and it rules is sight. Qualities related to Mars: Mars has sharp and cruel eyes, young body. Mars imbibes generous nature (deserving or undeserving), of bilious nature, of unsteady mind, and a narrow middle (Varahamihira, Brihat Jathaka). Mars influence one to be wrathful but generous. Mars is assigned to trading on products from earth, related to brothers, war, courage, fire, enemies, attachment to females, mental dignity, disease, and paternal relations. Misplaced Mars could reveal that the person could be a crook, an arms bearer, a goldsmith or a thief. Mars is a karaka for siblings. Mars represents the level of ambitions, desires, sexuality, courage, mechanical ability, an approach to life with enthusiasm, and tends to act before thinking. If ‘afflicted’, its influence will contribute to impulsiveness, drinking, violence, and aggression. A well placed Mars will bring self- confidence, endurance, heroism, strength, courage, competitiveness, sharp wit, and a go-ahead spirit. Add to this, the organizational ability, independence, strong determination, a skilful speaker, and leadership qualities. An ill- placed Mars will give one, the rashness, loss of temper, foolhardiness, a quarrelsome nature, and impetuousness, and a tendency towards cold, fever, and allergies.  Mars is friendly to Sun, Moon, and Jupiter; neutral to Venus and Saturn; and inimical to Mercury. Mars is male and Venus (karaka for procreation) is Female; it is obvious these two Planets are important for emotional nature of human side is concerned. When the two join, aspect each other, or Mars influences Venus in any manner, in the Birth Chart or in the Navamsa Chart, it leads to expectation of heightened sexuality in the native. Now we all understand that placement, influence (Drushti), mutual affection and refinement thus fall within the domain of Venus and Mars to confer holy matrimony between the two couples.  Those with the knowledge of basics in Astrology will also note the Drushti for Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus are awarded with the 180º orb only where as distantly placed (from Sun and Moon), Mars, Saturn and Jupiter is awarded with three ‘Extra’ Drusties to direct ‘refraction’ energies. Jupiter, in fact, has four Drusties.  I will respond to those interested to know more on Mars Dhosha and other related factors, when I see further interest in members.  Pathi (13th December 2009)  A.V.Pathi,
