Divine guidance of Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba – 13

How do we deal with your own indiscipline that may occur due to the

challenges we face in our daily lives?

If you, as a spiritual aspirant, are unsuccessful in following

discipline, you must seek and know the cause of your defeat. This

analysis is necessary. You must then see that in the second stage this

trait is not repeated. You must try your best to guard yourself against

this. In such matters, you must be quick and active like the squirrel.

Agility and vigilance, combined with the sharpness of intelligence

earned by peace, must quickly come to your aid. Courage, wise counsel,

steadiness and undeviating earnestness is very important for avoiding

and overcoming conflicts in your mind. A mind without agitations, a

joyous and unblemished outlook... these are the marks of a person in

whom peace has taken root.

What are the slippery slopes that we have to cautiously guard ourselves

against?

Do not enter upon a task through momentary compulsion of some impulse.

The impulse might appear very respectable, but you should not let

yourself be dragged by it. You have to be always vigilant in this

matter, always steadfast and strong. Your nature should be free from

pomp and show. You should understand the secret of character, and

strengthen your will for your betterment. If you move in the world

intelligently and with care, you can demonstrate the truth of the

statement, " Man is truly the embodiment of Peace " . A joyful outlook

helps peace to grow. You should therefore cultivate a joyful outlook.

Why will a peaceful disposition help us realize the Lord?

Santhi (Peace) can also be defined as true love towards the Lord,

towards Truth itself and towards true dharma (Right Action). Hence, it

makes the realization of the Lord as your sole aim. Hold fast to the

desire to realize Him in this very birth. Remain unaffected by lust or

greed, by joy and pain, praise and abuse or any such pair of opposites.

Fortitude such as this alone leads to Realization.
