Dear TBP members!I read the following article in some web

magazine and felt like posting the same for our members to read and distinguish

the HOLY from the unholy.

The UNHOLY..

 

One of the oldest religious scriptures,well admired by one and all and finding

relevance in today's HiTech world is our Vedas!The admiration for the concept of

Advaitham has created a new found,surprise Individuals like Einstein and Carl

Sagan,the later,being a great Astro Physicist but remained an atheist!

 

Einsten strongly felt that " GOD NEVER PLAYS DICE.. "

 

meaning there is a Plan,MBAs can call it as a strategic Plan,in everything He

has created around us...eg.,The Gravitational pull is existing from Billions of

years from the time of Big Bang,but we have only added a Scientific definition

to it NOW!

 

Carl Sagan went to the extent of supporting Advaitham in his book,Cosmos,

 

The meaning of a Human life ,acc to me,must be 'not' to ask

 

" Is there God? "

 

The purpose of our creation :-

 

Is it for the good of Mankind or for my own Good or for amassing wealth for my

own family? "

 

Adi Sankara has explained this in a beautiful sentence:

 

" Kuruthe gangasahargamanam,vratha paripalana mathva dhanam;

 

Gyana vihine sarvamathena.. "

 

" Vratham in the form of one's ego is No Vratham..Gyanam is the ultimate

Moksha..This Gyanam,call it in any Religious Text(see He uses the word Sarva

Mathena!)cannot be TWo..It has to be ONE..Thats the TRUTH!

 

Man's ugliness is exposed when his Ahankaram and mamakaram are displayed in

every deed he does for his own selfishness..

 

You must have seen in a small temple that

 

" This Tube light has been Donated by.... " ....AHAMKARAM...

 

The deed one does for the welfare of the society is much more sacred than all

the wealth you already posses in the last few generations!

 

Ahamkaram is your innerself....Mamakaram is your visiting card..

 

If you have done something good,there is no necessity to advertise....everyone

knows,atleast on the day when you are dead!

 

In every walk of my life I used to recall an incident from my poor father's

life..

 

I call him poor, as he died a heartbroken poor man..Many people admire him

'after' his death,including his own kith and kin like me but as an Individual,he

was destined to die poor,penniless!May be his Karma!

 

 

I was travelling to Srirangam,at the direction of my bedridden Mother,who

insisted I must visit her house and see what it is worth before her death(she

was in my house on her dying days.)I travelled in a train which was to reach at

4 am in the morning,so I requested an Old Iyengar mama nearby:

 

" Sir,can you pls wake me up.. "

 

 

" Ofcourse..Nowadays I dont get much sleep too..By the way,whats your name..Which

is your native place? "

 

" Ramnad "

 

" Ramnad..from where in Ramnad.. "

 

" Oh!You are son of Rajah Iyer.. " he got up from his seat..

 

" You must be a proud son indeed..a very very great man(my father passed away in

1974 whereas this happened in 1999).. "

 

" Sir Do you know him well.. "

 

" Ofcourse.How can I forget him..see I was an LIC officer in 1968 in Ramnad..my

elder son,Ramasamy was in the 11 th std..suddenly they transferred me to Madurai

in Oct..all the schools had reopened and by OCT,no school was willing to

accomodate my son..I didnt know your father but some one told me in LIC

Ramnad, " Sir,you approach Rajah Iyer,he is very very kind to all,particularyl to

students,,he will certainly help you " ..so I went to him..

 

He said: " How can I help you in OCT?Even if I give a letter it wont be accepted,

as all schools wd be running to 100% capacity..anyway I will give a letter to

TVS High school HM.try your luck.. "

 

Can you believe me when I went and gave this letter the TVS School(very

prestigious school in Madurai)gave a special seat 'just for that letter and now

my son is 45yrs old well employed in the same LIC..I can never forget this help

in my lifetime.... "

 

I felt a few drops in my eyes..after all if we look at this help

 

'It is just a letter..My father wrote..to TVS HM..but the man who received the

help is thinking of that help even today.. "

 

" kalathinal seitha nanri siritheninum;

 

gyanathin salaperithu " ..Thiruvalluvar..meaning

 

" a kindness done in the hour of need may look small;but it outweigth the whole

world.. " VVS Aiyer..

 

One need not be an expert in Rituals and Vedas..these small things matter in

one's life..The difference between Holy and UNHOLY is very subtle..

 

Holy acknowledges even a small help ,timely help,rendered by anyone..but

Unholy,never even bother's much...

 

I sometime fail to understand,well qualified individuals,professors who have

held responsible positions and teach morals to students,cannot remember the

people who have helped them!

 

The ahamkaram ....

 

We recite Soundarya Lahari every day,but we dont understand what it means!

 

We go to Shiva Temples on every Pradosham day but we fail to take care of our

own mother!

 

We celeberate Weddings with enormous display of wealth but fail to get a sari

for the servant maid!

 

I witnessed an incident some 4 decades back in Kalavai,when I went to have a

darshan of Paramacharya on His Jayanthi day..There was as usual a huge crowd.Me

and my wife were waiting when suddenly He appared from another side..all the

corwd started moving towards Him..There was a 50 yr old Man with Gold Chains and

his wife prostrated before Him..Periyavaa was in MOuna..He looked a very well

placed Buinessman..Periyava enquired

 

" How are you? " in Mouna..This man and his wife gave a pamphlet showing he

conducted for 4 days 'Samashti Upanayanm' for poor Brahmins in KK Nagar(Free

Upanayanams with all cost born by him.. "

 

Periyava looked at the pamphlet..There was silence..

 

He asked him " How much did you spend..? "

 

" He said a few lacs.. "

 

Silence..

 

Periyavaa asked him in MOuna,about a boy called " Dakshinamurthy of

Tirunelveli.. " This man got a shock of his life time..Periyava disappeared..!

 

This man started weeping uncontrollably..His wife tried to pacify and a few

Journalists present asked him:Sir what happened/What happened?'

 

H e went on repeating " I am a criminal..I am a criminal..Then he explained :

 

" I had a widowed sister years back and her son's name is Dakshinamurthy..I took

care of them but she also passed away..I didnt like to keep that boy in my house

and drove him away and I dont know where he is..Periyava 'indirectly' aks me

today 'You do Samashti Upanayanm' for all but you have forgotten your own

sister's son!Now I have to somehow find him and make him a man.. "

 

Well you decide what is HOLY and what is Unholy?

 

Yours truly gave life to a sister..She exists somewhere..

God is great!

 

a)Sodium being a very explosive material by itself and

 

b)Chlorine most corrosive by itself is combined to give Sodium Chloride without

a speck of which Human life is just impossible..This myth is the Intelligent

Cause....call it by any name,you like.. "

 

Hence it is possible that there is a much more 'intelligent cause' than what you

and I see in this world..e.g.,we dont know why

 

" out of all the Religious beliefs,I find relevance of the Multi Universe and its

Creations only in Hinduism as it has explicitly dealt with many Universes,leave

alone a simple Galaxy nearby,thousands of years ago.
