DOES THE CROWS REPRESENT OUR PITRUDEVATAS?

A question is raised by one of our members Priya Srikanth, as to what happens

to our offerings in case our forefathers take rebirth.

A good question indeed! As per Garuda Puranam, we have to conduct the Pitru

Karyam of our forefathers till we live and advise our children also to do so.

The question is also answered in the same Puranam. In fact, the offerings will

reach the pitrudevatas in the form they can utilize, just we send rupees to US

and our wards utilize them in Dollars. Just like that the Mantras have got that

Sabta Sakti and they carry the offerings to the Lokas where our Pitrudevatas

currently live. They may live in Swarga, Naraka or any world for that matter;

it reaches them in form they can utilize. For Example, a forefather might have

taken a rebirth as Manava and his ward conduct Pitru Karyam in this world; it

reaches him in the form he can utilize. That is the reason sometimes, we get

some unforeseen wealth. (Adrushtam, Drushtam Kanidi). Here, the offerings made

by his children, is received in the form of good-luck, and in case the

forefathers are in other world, say Swarga loka, their stay at Swarga loka will

be enhanced by Sahasra Deva Samvastaras because of that Pitru Karyam. In case,

the forefather is in Naraka Loka, his suffering is reduced in equal number of

Deva Samvastaras, compared to number of Brahmins you offer food on the day of

Pitru Karyam. (Shraddha Karyam), each satisfied Brahmin equals the number of

Sahasra Deva Samvastaras.

Now, one more question comes after answering the above. What happens, if

the forefathers attain salvation (Moksha)? In that case, the offering directly

goes to the Almighty and He utilizes these offerings in worldly calamities and

invests the offerings of Karta, and pays back to the Karta in his difficult

times many more times which cannot be counted in Manu Ganaka.

Since the question needs some more explanations, I would like to add a link,

where the interested members can visualize the actual pritukarya in this link

and the various explanations given in the visuals.

Further, you can refer Garuda Puranam for more detailed explanations at the

following link, and chapter xcviii and pages 284 to 287 (Note the following link

for Garuda Puranam contains authentic version from Sri Manmatha Nath Dutt, in

digitalized form which contains full text running into 816 pages.
