These truths are capable of being rediscovered by any human being who is ready to become enlightened by virtue of moral and mental discipline. Vedic hymns and prayers reiterate the need to seek the true identity of the individual and of the Universal Self. " Itihasapuranabhyam Vedam Samupabrumhayet " It is very difficult to understand the tenets of Vedic literature and hence the essence is given in itihasas like Mahabharata and the astaadasa (18) mahapuranas. Garuda Purana is one of the great puranas which are part of the Hindu body of the spiritual texts known as Sruthis. It is in the form of instruction by Lord Vishnu to His carrier Garuda. Garuda Purana form part of Vishnupuranas with 19,000 slokas. " Garuda Purana Saroddhara " or 'Extracted Essence of Garuda Purana' was compiled by Pandit Navanidhirama, son of Sri Harinarayana of Jhunjhunu , which was ruled by king Srisukhlalji. It is entirely originally written and comprises the result of very deep study which resembles western concept of Heaven and Hell. A humble attempt has been made to present the 16 chapters of this great Garudapurana sarodhhara in Sanskrit text and Telugu meaning which directs a path of life whereby we can avoid sin and hell. I request you to listen the Pradhamadhyaayam or first chapter. http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=bBwyPahSBqg
