Guest guest
What is " TRUTH " ? Truth is of 3 kinds. (1) personal or social †" vaiyaktika or sAmUhya (2) vyAvahArika (3) Eternal or ultimate †" pAramArthik satya. Some examples to define I am living in a village where there is a man who is having 6 ft and 11 inches. I have seen him, I know him. According to me it is a truth. I have not seen anybody else so far who is having more than 6 ft 11 inch. One day I had a guest from far off. During discussions, he mentioned that in his place there is a man having 7 ft and 2 inches. I went with him and seen that man. It is a truth. Now, the first truth is my experience so far but when I am convinced that there are people more than 6 ft 11 inch, the personal truth became untruth and the social truth became correct. Both are correct in its level but it is not the ultimate truth. It is vyAvahArik truth only. The ultimate truth is called sat or essence. Let us see another example : It is true that the three angles of a triangle is 180 deg. This is accepted universally (vyAvahArik) . But when I had the inquisitiveness to find out the fact in it, I put a bowl upside down like this ∩ and drew the triangle on it. I found it more than 180 deg. Now the earlier truth became untrue. My inquisitiveness did not end there. I felt that it is not fully true. I put that bowl in this pose U and drew the diagram inside the bowl. Then I found that the total of three angles is less than 180 deg. It is thus all are true or none is true. Another example we can see - In the 8th and 9th class in physics, the teacher will teach you that light is traveling STRAIGHT line. This is fact, accepted by all. ) When the student reaches plus one and plus two, the same teacher will teach the same students that the light is traveling in WAVES form. When the student reaches in the university level, the teacher will teach that the light is traveling in quantum form. The light gets bend when it touches on a dense surface. (This we can see when we light the torch to water in a pot or pond or to a glass.) Also the speed of light reduces. So in the third one, not only that the light is in the form of particles (photons) and when it touches to a dense surface, it gets bend. The speed also reduces. When it travels through space, the speed is more as there are no matter in the space. These are only some scientific experiments based on some theories and formulas according to the thoughts developed in one’s mind. All the forms of study is correct. But it is not the truth. It is not the essence. (No student has till today dared to ask the teacher/scientists……why you are teaching the untruth…? .is altogether a different story) Another example : You have a man in your house, a lady in your house (your father and mother). You have a guest in your house. You call the lady as ‘mother’. We have been taught from childhood that we must see/call all ladies as ‘mother’ and the word ‘mother’ is universal. If that teaching is to be followed, you will call her as mother, your guest will also call her as mother. But your father will not agree to that and he will call her as ‘wife’. You will not agree to call your younger sister as mother. I will not agree to call my daughter as mother. Why it is so. So that is also not truth, though universal. I am a person engaged in all sorts of illicit transactions/ business, all false doings and deeds and do not stick to my words. I cheat everybody, I tell lie to my children, to my family members and all others. But I expect my family members to tell me truth, all my office staff to be truthful to me and rest of the world to be truthful to me. Why this kind of thoughts, is because, the ultimate truth is inside me and I like that force. We may say that what I saw, it is true. This is not acceptable because those who are blind they also see. All those who have ear are not able to hear. All those who have tongue are not able to speak. Is it that all the blind, duff and dump whatever they experience are untrue…? No. The inquisitiveness to be developed to find out that power which gives force to the senses to see, to hear, to taste, to smell, who is that ? who is that supreme power..? That is the ultimate truth … pAramArthik satya. Truth is that which never changes, which is constant, which is not subject to any kind of evolution or revolution. Truth is not a thing which is to be derived from debates, speeches, professings, books, writings or any worldly things. It is a matter of realization, it is a matter of self experiencing. It can neither be qualified nor be quantified nor it can be given any definition, any shape or any explanation. Words or sounds never reaches there, eye sight cannot recognize it, thoughts cannot reach there nor the tongues can taste it. It is beyond senses. It is to be experienced. I should ask myself that how I am able to see the objects outside me. What, as a sAdhaka, one should try to see is that what is the ultimate truth, what is that thing which is having the essence. That with essence is the ultimate truth.
