Guest guest
Dear List Members I have been invited to contribute towards a series of four 45 minute Religious programmes by ITV (the major commercial TV channel in the UK). The programme is being produced by a very reputable and professional team who have already produced some very good and incisive religious programmes like the 'Jesus File'. The programmes will have contribution from many well known scholars and theologians from all religions. I am always very keen to contribute in any religious programmes in order to gain a foot-hold in the British media, but the aspect of this series that makes me shudder and feel very apprehensive is the focus of the series:- " Sex and Religion " This is a peculiar way for my mentor to allow me access to the media. What to do? I will roll up my sleeves and have a go. I need to have the exact Hindu scriptural injunctions (chapter and verse) on a great many issues like: adultery, contraception, homo-sexuality etc. May I request the list members to point me in the right direction? Any text - any website - any person I can contact? I must have access to reliable authoritative information on all such issues. No doubt, the producers will throw in lots of images from the Kama Sutra and will no doubt, find some Oriental academic presenting Hinduism in a manner that will make it sound like a promiscuous religion. My task is not easy! jay
Guest guest
Namaste Jay, It is easier than you think! Swamiji's thundering words of : abhI abhI - fear not! should ring in your ears (and of the audience)! Thakurji, the fearless practitioner of 64 tantras, has quotations galore in M.'s Gospel. Vyasa's conclusion of the Mahabharata : dharmAd arthashcha kAmashcha - [wealth and desires derive meaning from Dharma alone]. Gita's repeated references to the ideal of 'jitendriya, saMyatendriya' for ultimate happiness, have inspired generations of aspirants. The glories of Varnashrama Dharma have been sung by all the sages. The ideals of Ramayana still vibrate through the nerves of Hindus. If Thakurji has chosen you, His glory cannot be tarnished. Best wishes, Regards, Sunder Ramakrishna, " Vivekananda Centre " <vivekananda@b...> wrote: > Dear List Members > > I have been invited to contribute towards a series of four 45 minute > Religious programmes by ITV (the major commercial TV channel > in the UK).
