Guest guest
~~~~~~~~~~An interesting email exchange~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Shri Jay Lakhani, We are delighted that you are teaching Hinduism in London. You are doing a great job for Bharat and the world. Here in India in the name of 'secularism' teaching Mahabharata, Bhagavata or Ramayana is prohibited, not to talk of Hinduism. But Koran and Bible could be taught. We are de-Hinduising Indians so that they are becoming prey to the proselytizers and also become resident-non-Indians. 2 I will be grateful if you can send the syllabus that you have drawn up for the schools where you are teaching Hinduism a voluntary organization. Society for Peace and Integrated Rural Development (an NGO) is launching a movement to teach Indian culture, civilization and history and literature in colleges as an extra subject. We will be taking inspiration from you and shape the content from the syllabus you have brought. We will be pleased in keeping you on our mailing list monthly Journal Bharatiya Pragna. We would be also be grateful if you can write an article on the scheme of teaching Hinduism in the London Schools and other places in UK. With regards, Yours sincerely, Dr T H Chowdary Information Technology Advisor: Government of Andhra Pradesh E-Mail: thc ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~response~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Sir Yes, we have noticed that though it is very easy for Hindu youngsters being brought up in the UK to study Hinduism at their schools; it is almost impossible for youngsters in India to learn Hinduism at any of the main stream schools in India!! I totally agree that in the name of secularism (which was introduced in India to keep politics and religion separate) the country has deprived its youngsters of its most important heritage - spirituality. We will forward you some of the articles relating to the teaching Hinduism. These articles have already been published in UK's religious-education publications. The basics that we teach can be seen at Hinduism for Schools website http://www.hinduism.fsnet.co.uk This site is visited by about 4000 English school children per month. A large number of English children learning the basics of Hinduism in the UK! How many Hindu children in India have the same privilege? regards jay Vivekananda Centre London
