Each of us will understand the story in our own way and in accord with our own realization. There is much to learn from simple anecdotes such as this and the lesson varies from person to person............... God bless, Alan
Guest guest
> Dear Anbudan, I am sure there are many ways to look at the story, but from the simplest point of view, the all we do in life is rock-push (maya unreality), nonsense. When we truly realize that, God reveals Himself -- and there is no more rock-pushing. This can be put in devotional terms or in advaitic terms, it all comes to the same. It will be interesting to hear other reactions to the story. Edith > Mon, 15 Jul 2002 22:25:36 -0000 > " ssathia " <ssathia > Re: PUSH > > Dear Friends, > > That was a nice story from Edith Tipple. Guest guest
Dear Edith Well said. Anbudan .......Rock pushing is used only in the sense of an example to indicate that from the highest Vedantic point of view all activity is futility. Except to the extent of helping us to get rid of our illusion and getting us closer to God where rock pushing becomes karma yoga. From the point of view of God there is nothing for which he needs our efforts. Some of us may think that we are honchos doing great things. Actually it is all a sadhana for our evolution and not for Gods benefit. Even if the rock moves after we push it God has nothing to gain out of it. But for us...whether we are able to push the rock or not we become better if we have the right attitude. We become closer to God while working in the spirit of pushing the rock and dedicating the efforts to God. Ultimately as Sri Thakur said for the realised soul the world is a mansion of mirth. It is a joke. Try and discover the deeper meaning behind the rock pushing. Ignore the words....dive into the deeper meaning.
