Thank you for your time yours truly David ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~response~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The idea of 'original sin' is not present in the Hindu teachings. It recognises 'misguided or mistaken approach due to ignorance' as the cause of suffering. Hence the teachings would say:- " All is good but some more than others depending on the contextual set-up " . Hindus would agree that it is getting the priorities wrong that continues to be the cause of suffering. (If I remember rightly the Christian theologian Thomas Aquinas classifies 'getting the priorities wrong' as the definition of evil in the Christian tradition). The principle cause of suffering - or if you like the original cause of suffering is considered to be the 'infinite' trying to express itself through the 'finite'. This cannot succeed. However, this process continues through various phases from lesser good to greater good until the limitation of all such processes is recognised and the search turns inwards where the fullness of infinite is rediscovered. This according to the Hindus is equal to the idea of regaining the kingdom of heaven. jay
