Guest guest
Dear Members I would like to know if anyone can give me details about Shri Purushottamananda. He was one of the key disciples of Sri Rakhal (Brahmananda). Recently I read some article about one of Shri Purushottamananda's disciples called Shantananda Puri who has taken Sanyasam. Shantananda describes his some of his Guru's greatness and how he graced him at various points in his life. Shri Purushottamananda apparently spent most of his life in the mountains near Rishikesh and in the Vasishta cave there. Any details about him is very eagerly anticipated. thanks -- Pradeep
Guest guest
Hello, > I would like to know if anyone can give me details about > Shri Purushottamananda. He was one of the key disciples > of Sri Rakhal (Brahmananda). I have had the good fortune of spending some time with Swami Shantanandaji and also read his book " Fragrant Flowers " where he gives thrilling accounts of his meetings with various saints. Swami Shantanandaji spends sometime at Vasishta Guha, the place where his guru Swami Purushottamanandaji, a disciple of Swami Brahmanandaji lived. Around May, he comes down to south. He spends some time at Bangalore, Chennai and at Ramanashramam at Thiruvannamalai. He has devotees at Bangalore and Chennai, who can be kept in touch to know his location. Ramanashramam management can be contacted at end April to know his schedule there. Swami Purushottamanandaji was initiated by Rakhal maharaj and was given sannyasa diksha by Mahapurush maharaj. He lived in Vasishta Guha. According to Swami Shantanandaji, his guru was a living ideal of the life which Sri Ramakrishna describes in the Gospel. And Swami Shantanandaji, who took sannyas after a full life of householder, is a living example of " How should a householder live according to the ideals set by Sri Ramakrishna? " Swami Shantanandaji is an exponent of Srimad Bhagavatam. He has written books on Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita and Ashtavakra Samhita. His Srimad Bhagavatam book is available online at: http://www.geocities.com/radhakutir/bhagavat.html If you want more info, please send a mail to me. I can check with the devotees of Swami Shantanandaji at Bangalore and let you know. With regards, Gomu. -- --------------- Email: gokulmuthu Webpage: http://www.geocities.com/gokulmuthu/ ---------------

Guest guest
Dear Devotees Pardon my ignorance about the details of life history of Sri Purushottamananda and thanks to everyone who have kindly responded to me. I am part of a sat-sangam in Madras and Sri Shantananda Puri had recently visited and given a discourse last month. Unfortunately, I could not attend this lecture as I dont stay in Madras. By the Grace of our Guru, my parents had the great maha-bhagyam of Sri Shantandanda visiting our home and having food after the talk, as suggested by our guru. They also told me about his great speech and the blessed evening of his visit. But on my own, I could not find much information about him on my own. That's why I wrote to you all in the hope of knowing more about him, and the Guru parampara. As part of our Sat-sangam a fortnightly article has also come out detailing this visit of Sri Shantananda and his speech. If possible, please spend a couple of minutes to check out the following URL. http://www.madhuramurali.org/mm/year2002/aug2002/aug02_srishantananda. html I would also like to know more about a great book that I heard Sri Shantananda has written.
