Guest guest
Firstly to answer this letter and the question, we should realize that God is indeed a Kalpataru showering the Dharma-Artha-Kama-MOksha (4 important things) continuously. But then why do we not get the desired results after prayers ? Firstly, one should realize that all happenings in this life are only due to our own doings, but in our previous lives, which we have forgotten, but which impacts us continuously. We are all born with a Prarabdham (destiny) and carry it on our head at all times. Similarly every moment of this life, we are creating more KArma which will impact us in our later lives. Secondly, we dont know what is good for us in the long run. Does a 3mth old baby tell the mother that " you should feed me more nutritious food, change my diapers 5times a day, start planning for putting me in the right school etc. " ?? Doesnt the mother know what is best for the child ? Similarly, God knows what is best for us and he will surely do the right thing at all times. If we have our own dreams and desires and it doesnt happen then we cannot blame God for that. Once we surrender to him, then we should not have any " Sankalpam " of decisions of our own. We should know to take everthing as His wish. ITs not at all easy to do this. But that is the only way. Sri Andal tells in her prayers to God that please analyze what I am asking for and then bless me. Dont give me whatever I ask for, because I dont even know what to ask !! Our lives are all governed by our fate, and in the presence of Guru and God, our lives are very secure at all times and there need be no concern about that. If our true goal is liberation and our love for God and faith is true, then we can easily realize that every happening is for our own good though it maybe tough to reason it out. Saints have even taken the loss of their parents in early childhood as a blessing because that totally made them without any attachments and they sought only the Lord who is permanent. Sri Krishna has also clearly told Uddhava that " only by taking away my devotee's ego do I first take control over him " . Without loss of ego there's no progress. If God keeps granting our wishes, gives us more money and beautiful wife, then children, then promotions, house, grand-children etc. etc. then where's the end to these needs and wants. When will we ever come out of this and attain to him ? Only through equanimity of mind in both loss and profit does the devotee get conditioned. We cannot blame God for anything at any cost, be it whatever. -- Pradeep
