Guest guest
Two men were struggling to come out of a fast flowing river. If they could not come out quickly they were sure to drown or be pulled down the great water fall. They searched frantically. One found a huge log and decided to climb on it. Another would not climb, but kept searching. Some people from the bank threw a rope at the drowning men. The rope appeared tiny and flimsy compared to the huge log, but the second man dived for it, found the end of the rope and hung on to it. The first man appeared safe for the moment as he climbed up the log and secured himself but soon both the log and the man went over the waterfall, never to be seen again. The second man - though he seemed to have taken refuge in something flimsy was pulled out of the river and saved. There is a great lesson to be learnt from this story. We see so many religious teachers and movements around. Many have an external appearance that is grand and alluring. Lots of people collect around it. The movement appears comfortable and secure. But take care. Like the log they may only give temporary relief. We have to search hard to find the real teacher who can lead us. Sometimes like the 'flimsy rope' they do not appear very attractive at the start, but hang on to them - they save! : )
