Guest guest
Today, we had the first meeting of a youth group we have launched in London. These youngsters have attended our Hinduism classes and were looking for a new initiative to progress from learning Hinduism to living Hinduism. We suggested that the best way to go about this was to lead a disciplined life based on virtues like being established in truth and celibacy. The way to portray Hinduism to the host nation is by example. We have to lead the disciplined lifestyle we have learnt about. Celibacy, we stressed is the key. We live in a world which considers this idea obsolete. Yet we suggested that without this commitment no serious progress can be made in spiritual life. Due to strong peer pressure it is very difficult to practise this in isolation but if we can encourage this collectively, then we do not feel like outcasts in society. Celibacy is an essential requirement - it is very the source of all the strength that is required to lead a spiritual life. This group will meet on the First Sunday of every month. The meetings are to be held at Preston Manor School, Wembley from 11am to 12.30pm. The youngsters will develop skills in portraying Hinduism through Public Speaking, Dance, Drama, Music, Media, Teaching and producing Resources on Hinduism. The next meeting will be on Sunday 6th of October. Vivekananda Centre London
