Guest guest
Dear Jagannath and R.D in my view, you are both right in your assessments of jiddu. i was just trying to post a topic for discussion. I am not taking any sides here. in India there's no paucity of Gurus, but the true Jivan-Muktha, or the " Sat-Guru " is rare. That's why there are 2 terms, Guru and Sat- Guru! The Sat-Guru is the one who attaches us with the " Sat " , and that mixing is indeed called the " sat-sangam " . But upanishads say that we cannot search for a Guru or identify a Guru with our limited knowledge. Our search should rather be for the truth and God. If that search is true, then God will link us with the Sat-Guru. But many foreigners dont know this and go to India in search of the " right-Guru " . Dont really know what they seek and what they get from them. Finally, they end up writing all kinds of Rot about our " Guru-Parampara " etc. finally its a waste of time for everyone in the above case. Maybe that's what Jiddu really meant by 'dont search for the Guru, but instead search for the truth'. But, in my opinion, the uttama-Guru is all that one needs. " guru parathey saadhana naahi " said Eknaath in his songs. Surrender to Guru is more than enough. His grace is burn our karmas and awaken our spiritual thirst. no one but the Guru can create this awakening. it cannot be done by reading a book, or knowing the shastras or puranas, or knowing by rote the vedas, or being a pundit in Sanskrit or expert in singing. Even no matter what a friend says, it cannot create a proper awakening. Only one who has " experience " of the truth can awaken someone. That's why even Sri Krishna says go to the " Tattvadarshis " .
