Catholicism " re-invents " itself every so often, why > >not Sanatana-Dharma? Your thoughts, List? I fully concur that Swamiji presented a vision of integrated Hinduism perhaps not seen since the times of Adi Shankaracharya (he established the Shanmatha, or worship of Shiva, Devi, Vishnu, Surya, Ganapathi and Kumara or Subramanya as all being equivalent to worshipping facets of the Self or brahman, the ONLY EXISTING REALITY). However, interestingly, exactly what you have said has been attempted very recently, in 2001. The heads of all the traditional maths of India including all the five Sankaracharyas have joined together to form what is called " Acharya Sabha " . Swami Dayananda Saraswathi of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam is the coordinator. There is also an allied organization called All-India Movement for Seva (AIM for SEVA). The idea is to not only bring together the religious leadership but to also work for the social upliftment of the poorer sections of the society.
