Guest guest
Dear Ones...I would like to attempt to describe a spiritual problem I am having, and hopefully get your words of wisdom. Twenty years ago I was initiated by a guru of Surat Shabd Yoga, also known as Sant Mat. According to this path, one must be intiated by a perfect living master that has made it all the way to the 6th plane of heaven in order to be free from the cycle of birth and death. If one does not find this perfect master, and takes a lesser man for a guru, one is still subject to the cycle of birth and death. THis path states that the lower 3 planes, material, astral and causal are all controlled by Kal who is the God that most religions refer to when they describe the ultimate creator. In fact, Kal does not want to let anyone out of his kingdom, and so created religions and false gurus to keep us entangled in the three planes. Our only hope is to find a Satguru who can lead us to our TRUE home (the 6th plane.) Supposedly, my guru was one of these perfect masters of which there are only 2 or 3 on the earth at a time. One of the complicating issues is that the lineage of these masters is very confused...there are numerous lines all claiming to have the TRUE master. THis path also states that past masters are of no help to us now since they have left the body. Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, etc. are to be respected but are of no practical help. Anyway...I learned of this and much more only a few years ago, and have since felt this path was too narrow-minded for me, and want to let go of it. I am having trouble with guilt at following another path (in this case, Ramakrishna.) I want to know what you all think of the theory of Sant Mat. Please feel free to ask me questions for clarification, and I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge. I'm sorry this was so long. Guest guest
Dear Katie, All systems, all gods and godesses as well, belong to the realm of maya and mahamaya. They all want to entice us or to scare us into joining their child-play. Then play proceeds with entire fervor and devotion, and when playing is done the toys are tossed aside, and the child sits in easy posture and smiles into the face of the Friend. So it is with Sri Ramakrishna. Simply being in that presence, all questions of heaven and hell, liberation and return, seeking and finding just fall away like toys from our hands. The very best to you, Shivaram Das Katie wrote: >Dear Ones...I would like to attempt to describe a spiritual problem I >am having, and hopefully get your words of wisdom. Guest guest
Katie, Your problem is not unique. If you refer to the life of Swami Vivekananda, you will find that he went to one guru named " pauhari baba " even though by that time he was a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Sr Ramakrishna came into his dream and Swami Vivekananda changed his mind. The point is that all the paths are true and all are trying to reach the same goal. You need to find one that suits you. Now you have come to the path of Sri Ramkrishna. The uniqueness you will find is that there is no taboo. No exclusion but all inclusion!! This is the beauty and this is the glory. Sri Ramakrishna lived all the Shastras and all the Vedas in one life and taught the humanity, the gist of it. We must not be fickle minded and have faith in our own self. There is the secret. My sincere prayers for your spiritual endeavour. Regards Samudra ===== If you are kind, People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;Be kind anyway.
