Guest guest
Dear Friends, Let us share our thoughts on that inevitable happening we can never escape. The phenomenon called death. Some call it an ending and others, a new beginning. But when we are still alive it is neither an ending nor a beginning. It is something most of us are hardly aware of. Very few think about it. Thinking of death need not scare us. It is one of the most important tools to cultivate detachment. A reminder that we should utilise our time well. An invitation to lead an exemplary life. To make the most of our resources. To move closer towards God. To find out the truth about ourselves. Let us make the following resolutions; 1. To increase the time we spend on prayers and in thinking about Thakur. 2. To do one good deed everyday, preferably to the poor and the needy. To devote some time to the activities of our nearest R K Math/Mission centre. 3. To donate a part of our daily earnings for a good cause. 5. Spread the message of our Ishta Devata - Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swamiji. 6. To refrain from sensual acts or other acts which definitely harm our spiritual progress. 7. To attend group discussions/sat sangs/bhakta sammelans at least once a month. 8. To seek the company of Sadhus. Let us always remind ourselves that this intermediary stage between life and death is very important. Let us make the best of our available time while we still have it. Life is like a drop of water on a lotus leaf. Let us reflect on death. Guest guest
Dear Jagannath You have really posted an excellent message with lot of depth and profound meaning which is applicable to everyone. Time is not under our control and the best thing that we can do is to pray to lord. (dhyeyo narayana sadha). There is a story from the Vivekachudamani, which I'd like to share. The Snake has a very small throat but swallows a large frog. While it does this, it does not bite it. If it did that, it would emit poison and make the prey unsuitable for consumption. The frog is still alive, but doesnt realise that its soon going to be in the Snake's belly. But, in the meanwhile, it also puts out its tongue and tries swallowing some insects etc. Sankara says that, we are like those frogs. We are already in the snake's mouth which is death, and that which is inevitable. Its just a matter of time, as to when our time would come. But we go about doing our mundane activities just as the frog sticks out its tongue to eat insects. -- Pradeep
