Guest guest
Greetings: My thanks to those who commented on the question of Nothingness. I think what I was looking for is Vedantic confirmation that nothingness and non-existence are impossible, as Brahman is absolute existence. And, as a jiva (still clinging to his body and ego!), once having consciousness, "I" will never have "non-consciousness" or non-existence. (Though, I'd like to learn more about the nature of 'individuality' within the Atman, as well as the nature of dissolution - maha-pralaya). This line of thought has also led me to realize that, just as non-existence is impossible, so must "non-creation." by this I mean everything that can be created, has been created --- somewhere in God's creation. Otherwise, God's creative power would be limited. I read where a physicist has called this concept: "quantum multiverse" (infinite parallel universes), where every possible variation exists in one universe or another. These two concepts certainly fit with the definition of "Absolute": if God is to create one thing, He must create all things. And, if He is to exist in one place, he must exist in all places. Guest guest
Dear Sir, Sat-Chit-Ananda means that Consciousness Exists eternally as Bliss. Here, both Consciousness and Bliss are infinite. This Consciousness has Mula Prakruthi as Its Energy. Both are anadi(without a beginning ).At this level, which is referrred to as the Paramarthika level, there is ONE ONLY WITHOUT A SECOND.Only and only Sat -Chith - Ananda exists. This is beyond the birth -death phenomena of creation. This is what you are probably trying to mean. When Sat -Chit - Ananda, who has got nothing to do with the phenomenon of creation - It is like the relation between a tree and a bird - reflects in Prakruthi, that reflection acquires the power over Mula Prakruthi. The reflection has all the power of Sat-Chit - Ananda as a reflection and It is thus called Eswara. The Prakruthi in which Eswara is reflected is called Maya. Maya creates by the impulsion of Eswara the phenomenal universe of name and form ,relative existence and non-existence,pralaya and srushti. All these phenomena are at a different plane conducted on the adhishtanam of Brahman. Let me give you the standard Vedic explanation. In a dream, you have the dream objects which include existence and non-existence,nothingness and fullness, you and I, etc. as tat(that ) and idam (this) ..In the wakeful state also , they exist in a similar way.But they are not real, like a snake on a rope.Their validity is relative.Just as a rope is the real ,so also Brahman is the real. The phenomenal universe is relatively only real .It is superimposed on the Consciousness who alone is eternally existent as Bliss. If you get out of dream,it vanishes;if you get out of wakeful state,it vanishes;so also the deep sleep. But all of them are on the substratum of Brahman. Regarding the quantum multiverse, nothing comes out of nothing. But the problem is what comes out is the outcome of impressions of Eswara. As such, they are like dream objects. What IS is Brahman beyond as the BASE. Roger Penrose in his Shadows of Mind painfully works out in the domain of maths, physics and other sciences without mentioning the name of God, the existence of a non-computational intelligence. That intelligence is the Chit, as the Vedic seers point out . Creation is a cyclic phenomenon. It is endless .Please read Vedantha Paribhasha and Vedantha Sara for a solution to your problem.Modern science will finally end up as advatha. This is certain. The Big Bang is a replica of Sri Chakram. Is it not? The western science is still nascient and it has to go a long way.Look at quantum mechanics and see how it is dissolving in maya. With Love and prayers for your success in your quest to seek the truth. Yours in Sri Sankara Bhagavatpujyapada, Chilukuri Bhuvaneswar --- Brad Stephan <brad wrote: > Greetings: > > My thanks to those who commented on the question of > Nothingness.
