THE VISION OF " RAMAKRISHNA " FILM

Neil posted a message on Feb 13 asking " Has there ever

been a film or documentary detailing the life and

teachings of Sri Ramakrishna? "

 

Earlier I posted a message mentioning the multipart

article in my " WIDER HORIZONS Weekly " column

(available FREE upon request, write to

girish116) about the proposed TV Serials and

films on the Holy Trio (Swami Vivekananda, Sri

Ramakrishna, and the Holy Mother.)

 

Although I have been writing a multi-part article on

VIVEKANANDA TV Serial and Film, I am flexible about

which film and/or TV Serial will be made first. Thakur

willing, RAMAKRISHNA film can be made first. Let me

outline my vision of RAMAKRISHNA film.

 

RAMAKRISHNA will be a 3+ hour dramatic feature film

with songs. Of course it will be a period film.

 

The primary goal will be to make RAMAKRISHNA a popular

film with high artistic standards, entertaining

audiences worldwide. It should be a world class cinema

made in both Hindi and English.

 

Richard Attenborough's great bio film GANDHI is indeed

an excellent model. Violence of Britishers sharply

contrasted with Gandhi's non violence was the

lifeblood of the film GANDHI. What can make the film

RAMAKRISHNA a great success both commercially and

artistically? Here are some thoughts.

 

MUSIC AND SONGS. The emotional appeal of music and

songs will be indescribable. Many people would like to

see the film again and again to enjoy the ecstatic

music and songs.

 

THE SPELLBINDING WORDS OF RAMAKRISHNA. Drawing from

the great sources such as THE GOSPEL OF SRI

RAMAKRISHNA and SRI RAMAKRISHNA THE GREAT MASTER, the

film will present the selected words of Sri

Ramakrishna brimming with nectar. The audiences

throughout the world will be spellbound hearing Sri

Ramarkrishna speaking from the depth of his heart full

of love for all humanity.

 

REALIZATION OF MAJOR RELIGIONS BY RAMAKRISHNA. Sri

Ramakrishna realized the same Truth through major

religions and faiths such as Hinduism, Islam, and

Christianity. The incidents about the intense Sadhanas

of Ramakrishna will make absorbing scenes.

 

RAMAKRISHNA AND NAREN. The incidents featuring

rebalious Naren and Ramakrishna will be very exciting.

This indeed is a great story about Guru and the

disciple.

 

RAMAKRISHNA SAVES GIRISH. The story of Girish Chandra

Ghosh is also exciting. Although Girish, the great

playwright, was good at heart, he had hopelessly

fallen into the three W's: Wine, women, and wealth.

How Sri Ramakrishna saves this wretched soul will

inspire and give hope to so many fallen persons.

 

RAMAKRISHNA'S WORSHIP OF MOTHER. Worship of God as

Mother Kali by Sri Ramakrishna will also be appealing.

Worhship of His own wife Sarada Devi will also present

intriguing incidents.

 

Thus there are many ingredients that, Thakur willing,

can make the film RAMAKRISHNA a super success.

 

The primary base of audience is one billion Indians in

India. As Swami Vivekananda once said, India belongs

to Sri Ramakrishana. And let me say that Sri

Ramakrishna belongs to all humanity, and especially

to India.

 

The film will be of course for the peoples of all

faiths and religions worldwide. Over one billion

Hindus in India and spread all over the globe will be

proud of the film.

 

The subject of Gandhi got Richard Attenborough.

 

Where is the filmmaker for RAMAKRISHNA?

 

" Richard Attenborough ...where are u ?? " asked Neil in

an E-note to me.

 

I pray to Sri Ramakrishna and the readers of this
