Guest guest
DEAR DEVOTEES, WE ACCEPT THAT THAKUR IS AN INCARNATION OF LORD KRISHNA HIMSELF. BUT THOSE WHO ARE INCARNATIONS OF SHIVA OR VISHNU WOULD BE SURELY REFERRED IN OUR SCRIPTURES. FOR EXAMPLE,BUDDHA AND CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU WERE REFERRED IN SCRIPTURES. ALSO ADI SHANKARA AND HIS MISSION IS REFERRED IN PADMA PURANA. LIKEWISE,IS THERE ANY REFERENCE TO OUR THAKUR? IF IT IS NOT SO,ON WHAT BASIS WE ACCEPT HIM AS AN AVATAR?WE SHOULD NOTE THAT KRISHNA ASKS US TO REFER TO SCRIPTURES FOR SPIRITUAL QUESTS. Guest guest
Dear Mr Moorthy, Namaste. I don't want to go into an awful lot of details on the issue. To put it very simply this question was raised during Thakurs time itself after Bhairavi Brahmani declared Thakur to be an Avatar. The biggest oppostion came from two of Thakurs best associates Haladhari and Mathur Babu, but for different reasons. Haladhari opined that this was not mentioned in the scriptures which mentions only ten avatars. Mathur Babu was concerned that such a declaration would get into the " simple man's " head and derange him further. To counter this Brahmani arranged a meeting which was attended by the learned pundits of Bengal. After listening to Brahmanis arguements it was unanimously agreed that Thakur was an avatar. Thakur enjoyed the whole episode like a small child and expressed his satisfaction. However this did not result in Thakurs name being spread far and wide. Soon everybody forgot the whole incident and Thakurs life continued in the same vein. Later Girish Ghosh took up the cudgel of spreading the word of Thakurs avatarhood but was admonished by Thakur who assured everybody that " before leaving this mortal frame I would break the pot in the bazaar " i.e. let out the secret. On 1st of January 1886, Thakur suddenly emerged from his sick room and asked Girish Ghosh what the latter thought about him. Girish knelt down before Thakur and said, " You are the substance from which Avatars emerge! " . Thakur was pleased no end and declared, " Let all of you be awakened " . Then in August 1886, Thakur declared to a disbelieving Narendranath (Swamiji), " You can not believe even now? Then listen, He who was Rama and He who was Krishna is now Ramakrishna, but not from your vedantic viewpoint " . Thakur was obviously referring to Advaita Vedanta. Swamiji was convinced then and there and with that, I think, the rest of the world should be convinced too!. Regards Jagannath. --- " k.s.krishna moorthy " <ksksat27 wrote: > DEAR DEVOTEES, > WE ACCEPT THAT THAKUR IS AN INCARNATION OF > LORD KRISHNA HIMSELF. > BUT THOSE WHO ARE INCARNATIONS OF SHIVA OR VISHNU > WOULD BE SURELY REFERRED IN OUR SCRIPTURES. > FOR EXAMPLE,BUDDHA AND CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU WERE > REFERRED IN SCRIPTURES. > ALSO ADI SHANKARA AND HIS MISSION IS REFERRED IN > PADMA PURANA. > LIKEWISE,IS THERE ANY REFERENCE TO OUR THAKUR? > IF IT IS NOT SO,ON WHAT BASIS WE ACCEPT HIM AS AN > AVATAR?WE SHOULD NOTE THAT KRISHNA ASKS US TO REFER > TO SCRIPTURES FOR SPIRITUAL QUESTS. > > > > Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more > http://taxes./ > > Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more http://taxes./
