Guest guest
I don't know much about Jazz music really, but I was listening today to a piece by a pianist named Alice Coltraine. I really liked it a great deal. Then I found out it was called " Ramakrisna and Turiya. " I did some searching and found out that she has other titles like " JOURNEY IN SATCHIDANANDA " and " Om Supreme. " Does anyone know anything about this person? Does she make a lot of music such as this?

They both became devotees of Swami Satchidananda in the early '70s. John passed away soon after. Alice gravitated eventually to Sai Baba, and using the names Turiya or Turiyasatsangitananda made many albums of spiritual music. I've listened to her music for a number of years, and, although I don't much like jazz, I find some of it quite enjoyable. She does sing Sanskrit bhajans and kirtans, but the music is highly innovative. There are some more traditional-sounding pieces as well. She expresses great reverence for Sri Ramakrishna. Guest guest
Alice Coultrane is an expert profession jazz pianist and organist and is the widow of Jazz great John Coultrane. They were both introduced to Vedanta before he passed away. Alice went on to visit India, found a Guru, and began an independent Vedanta Society in Thousand Oaks, CA. of which she is the leader. I believe her name in religion is Turiya Chaitanya. The Society had over 60 members when I last heard. Yogeshananda
