Hello Jai Simman,

I suggest two people who can give valuable

information:

1. Thiru Nalan - He is an elderly gentleman

who comes almost every evening to

Paya Lebar Sivan Temple. The temple

priests and volunteers know him.

He retired from Postal service long ago.

I have listened to his narrations of

the Japanese occupation in Singapore!

2. The owner of Kumaran and company

who is an auditors and a devotee of

Sri Ramakrishna Mission,

Singapore. The company is located in

Peninsula Plaza, I believe. Please

verify.

regards

Ramasamy

information needed on history of former ramakrishna mission

building in singapore ...

greetings

i m a history student studying important monuments in singapore.

i have been told that the former ramakrishna mission in norris road

is a monumental building with many important personalities visiting it

in the early 1930s and 40s and beyond - persons like Subhash Chandra

Bose and Jawaharlal Nehru.

Could anyone provide more information about this building and the monumental

events that took place in it when the mission was present there ?

thanks in advance

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your feedback.

Do you personally know of any significant events that took place at the Ramakrishna Mission premises

at Norris Road ? e.g. the arrival of important dignitaries etc. ?

Are there any photographs of this place on any websites ?

Since you heard things from the 2 gentlemen whose names you have given, perhaps you could

also share some information with me and on the list.

Hello Jaisimman,

I met them in a different context.

I lived in Singapore for a short period of time.

I've no information in this. I can only give pointers.

Sorry.

You may want to check with the National Archives

in Singapore.

regards,

Ramasamy
