Further to email from > --- Michael Bowes <rmichaelbowes On maya and atman Dear devotees, God is always seated in our heart as a supreme witness. He is the paramatma and we are all jivatmas and we can be under his association where we enjoy the absolute happiness by losing our self ego before him. Though every soul has that potency to associate with God eternally, many of us are in the mode of ignorance where we want to interact with matter and thereby get controlled by Maya the energy of material nature. No doubt this material world is like a dream but many of us are not that much equipped to come out of the dream state. When the great masters like Thakur come to this world they induce the desire in our heart to wake up and gradually we try to make that eternal desire come true. We Thaku's devotees are different from materialistic men in the sense that we atleast have the desire to come out of this dream of miseries, but the poor scientists and ateists are not ready to come out of the dream. They vainly think that they can make this world an eternal place to live forever. So start witb any MARGH(BHAKTHI is the most suitable one for this KALI age) and you would realize the improvement in your mind.Attaining Mukthi or Liberation may take so many janmas and not such an easy task. Guest guest
Dear Devotees, I totally agree with the previous replies regarding this subject. I would like to point out a little of what I read in Sri Ramakrishna Prabha (a monthly magazine from Sri Ramakrishna Math-Madras in Telugu). Sri Adi Shankara in his Advaita philosophy says that even though each soul is potentially divine, it cannot become the paramatman. It is like a wave in the ocean. Even though the wave is part of the ocean, it can never become the ocean. Sri Thakur also gives a good analogy for the same. He says that: Imagine a servant serving his master with all respect and love through out his life. Having satisfied with his service and out of his grace the master offers his chair to the servant and makes him sit next to him. Realizing that we r one with divine is also similar to this. Even though we r atman in true sense we forgot that identification and since we identify ourselves with body, we r trapped by maya. If we serve the lord with Bhakti then out of his grace, he would lift us up and allow us to break the shackles of maya and make us(atman), part of him. Jai Sri Ramakrishna, Prasad
