Guest guest
Dear Devotees, In Bhagavad Gita Krishna condemns Tamasik qualities. But how the practice of animal sacrifice came in our eternal religion Hinduism. What is the actual meaning of Ashwamedha & Ajhamedha sacrifices? Is there any vedic scriptures that directly support animal sacrifice? All I know is " AHIMSA PARMO DHARMAH: " is the order of the vedas.Prema means love & hence Love is God. Please clarify my doubt which is eating me all the time. The New with improved product search
Guest guest
Dear Devotee, I used to have the same doubt and it disturbed me for many years. I don't know why it was sanctioned in the Vedas. With my little knowledge, I know that Vedas have two Kandas, one Karma Kanda (involving rituals) and Jnana kanda (involving Jnana yoga etc). For people who enjoy eating meat, this method was prescribed and it is a Tamasik way of praying. Everyone has to evolve from their existing stage. Meditation and practising yoga is not for all and sundry. The next stage of prayer is Rajasik, involving all peraphernalia in decorating Gods and offering the best of fruits and flowers. The best and ultimate is the Saatvic mode in which the devotee gives a flower or leaf or fruit or water, with Utmost devotion (as mentioned in Gita). Moreover, even the so called vegetarians (I am one) kill lot of vegetables and fruits. The bottom line is, since we have to kill a living being to feed ourselves, it is bets to offer that whatever ur eating to the lord and ask him to pardon ur offences in getting it. Thanks, Prasad.
