Guest guest
Dear List The Vivekananda Centre had arranged a three day Winter retreat at a Country House in Northamptonshire. We had a total of 70 participants, 42 under the age of twenty. The programme consisted of early morning walks; meditation three times a day; youth activities and programmes; discourses on the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and introduction to Swami Vivekananda's Raja-Yoga. Late evening sessions of Bhajans for the senior participants and quizzes and games for the youngsters. The participants found the experience very uplifting. We, as Vivekananda Centre have taken great care not to promote Vivekananda or Ramakrishna as 'cult figureheads' in our classes, hence we hardly mention their names in our normal classes. Only once a year when we go for retreats, we divulge the grandeur of these spiritual giants. Presenting spirituality not as principles but as living personalities! The atmosphere becomes charged. You cannot imagine what effect these talks produce : ) jay Vivekananda Centre London
Guest guest
Dear Jay, Can we have some details on the nature of effect such retreats create on young minds? Whenever you have the time, that is. It will be educative for us, since what you mention is very inspiring.
