Guest guest
Hi!, I compiled some links into Swamiji's Complete Works where he talks about what seems to be a very popular topic of late - 'vegetarian or not'. A detailed discussion on Food and Cooking: http://www.ramakrishnavivekananda.info/vivekananda/volume_5/writings_prose_and_p\ oems/the_east_and_the_west.htm#iii Swamiji's preference: http://www.ramakrishnavivekananda.info/vivekananda/volume_7/epistles_third_serie\ s/18_sister.htm In the following link he also mentions Thakur's practice: http://www.ramakrishnavivekananda.info/vivekananda/volume_4/translation_prose/th\ e_education_that_india_needs.htm There are more expositions and writings by Swamiji on the subject. If one does a Pico Search on the Complete Works site on the word 'Vegetarian', one gets 15 references. And of course, there is Thakur's statement: " Blessed is the man who is attracted by the Lord, even though he may eat pork. On the other hand, shame on him who is attached to `lust and greed,' even though he may be eating havishya(A holy food consisting of boiled rice with clarified butter). " The section in Gospel where Thakur says it can be read in the online version of Sri Dharm Pal Gupta's translation at: http://www.kathamrita.org/kathamrita2/k2sec16.htm Jai Thakur Jai Sri Sri Ma Pratik
