Guest guest
Dear Friends, 1. KARMA. Sriram wants to know about Karma and why all Karma cannot be worked out in this life itself. Well Sriram, by the time we have become conscious about the term "Karma" we are already well into the cycle of births and deaths having committed many deeds, good or bad. As the human body can possibly last only 120 years or so in this age, therefore it may not be able to exhaust its sanchita karma and also atone for karma in its present birth. Therefore many births become necessary. Why should karma be left over for another birth? Sriram, there are times in our life when we become bogged down, despair and desparately long for a fresh start. A fresh birth gives us just that, a fresh start. Why don't we remember our previous karma? Just imagine if you found out that you were a murderer in your previous birth, having committed many murders. Would that not be a damper to your present efforts? Thus it is always better to let sleeping dogs lie. What will compel us against bad deeds? You yourself have answered that question. The day we realise our oneness with God we will be delivered of all sins. 2. EGO: Dear Muthu, Thakur appreciated only the servant ego, the "servant of God". Swamiji of course has room for arrogance but justified arrogance. Arrogance and an ego that fights against wrongs is justified. However arrogance and ego should not serve the self. 3. CONVERSIONS: Forcible conversions are always to be resisted. However it is not always easy to know why a man converts to another religion. It may so happen that he may have heard about God only from the followers of another religion. Or it may be for his stomach. I think instead of crying hoarse against conversions we should actively address the issues of education and poverty. Did not Swamiji say, "First food, then religion"? Regards Jagannath.
