Guest guest
Further to our earlier posting about Sister Gargi passing away. The news story from Hindu Press International, we received further details as under: <LaliMaly <vivekananda; <vedanta Tuesday, January 27, 2004 04:08 Re: Sister Gargi passes away Thanks for sending out the notice about Sister Gargi. Her memorial will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1st at the Old Temple in SF at one p.m.and I wish you would let your mailing list know that. Several people may only hear about that event thru your list. Also, Swami Ashokananda was not the Founder of the SF Vedanta Society. Swami Vivekanandaji founded the center and it was built up by Swami Trigunathitanandaji the direct disciple. Several other Swamis of the Order were ministers of the Center, now known as the Northern California Vedanta Society. Swami Ashokananda was the minister of the center during a huge period of expansion of the center and did start teh Berkeley and Sacramento centers with the help of his assistant swamis. Guest guest
It was my experience to visit the San Francisco and Seattle Ramakrishna centers in the mid and late 60's early 70's. Nataraja in front of the Seattle center more than 6 feet tall. I lived in Seattle for a few years and San Francisco for 15 years. During that period and into the 80's stayed in Ramakrishna centers in India, was initiated in Chidambaram in the early 80's. The influence of Vivekananda and Ramakrishna are immeasurable. Om Sister Gargi and all the Swamis that brought to the west coast of the US the spiritual vibration that continues to penetrate the individual consciousness from within. Om to my Guruji that is always with me. OM NAMAH SIVAYA Kanda
