Guest guest
Dear Jagannath, Regarding loneliness, I can say for sure that the fight against loneliness is tough indeed. But every lonely person has to ask himself/herself certain questions. If you need a companion, you should get one. If you dont have a companion, did you choose not to have one, or did circumstances in life deprive you of a comparison? Many people, especially sanyasins, chose not to have a companion since they think it would come in the way of spiritual practices. In one instance, a chancellor of one of the universities n Karnataka chose to remain single because he wanted to dedicate his entire life to community service through his contribution to education. He really lived and still lives as a sanyasin although he did not join any ashram. In other words, if we are not driven by a strong goal in life that justifies the need to be single, it is not worth choosing to be single. Do you agree? In some cases, people are wrongly advised not to get married and they may find out out later that it is an uphill task to fight loneliness. There are very good arguments for and against being single. We all must decide what we want and why we want what we want. Having said this loneliness can be fought by active community service where you mingle with people always and perform different types of services. This gives a psychological satisfaction that after all, the person would not have been able to accomplish all those things if he/she had been married. All positive activities which keep us busy throughout the day will help to fight loneliness. Let me also share another thought- persons who are married can also feel loneliness because at some point, either the marriage might have failed or due to other disappointments.
