Guest guest
Dear Friends, I would say you all were right in giving your reactions to the improper behaviour of the couple in the Math. Such incidents, I am afraid, will grow as the Math, which was earlier at a solitary place, is now surrounded by high rise buildings. The teenage population is growing at an alarming rate and they will find the Math an oasis away from the prying eyes of the elders. In considering or judging the next generation we must consider the following factors; 1. They do not get the required love and attention neither from their parents nor their teachers. 2. Our " secular " government have devised a system of education which gives only information and not wisdom. 3. They are taught that greed is the driving factor behind life and the economy. Materialism is the only solution to our lifes woes. 4. They are under tremendous peer pressure to do the " in things " in life. 5. The media champions for their " cause " and caters to their " needs " . MTV and Channel V comes to my mind, which teaches them that to be abnormal is to be normal. They have even a program called " crush " which encourages youngsters to propose to their girlfriends at an age when they should be learning the basic tenets of life. We have TV Talks where grown up (even old) celebrities calls such behaviour " personal freedom " and " basic fundamental rights " . 6. We have a medical fraternity which tinkers with only the physical body without trying to set right mental and emotional problems. 7. Pressures of the education system /parental pressures and high unemployment prompts youngsters to enjoy life in the campus itself , at the expense of their parents income, instead of waiting for the life beyond. Are the younger generation guilty of crumbling under such pressures? I think this is an issue which should be given a lot of thought. These youngsters actually get no pleasure out of life and resort to atrocious behaviour. In the Uddhava Gita we have Sri Krishna warning Uddhava of an age when man will loose interest in life. Uddhava expresses great surprise in this and wonders aloud whether such days will really come. Well friends, I think such days are knocking at our doors. Regards, Jagannath.
