Guest guest
Dear RD, Thanks a lot pal! That was an wonderful explanation. But there is another part you left out. God too is Maya!!! The truth according to advaita is that there is no creation. Therefore there is no God. Only an ocean of infinite consciousness exists. Thakur tried to explain this concept in the Kathamrita. Then he checked himself. Wiping his face he remarked, " Who will understand all this, to whom shall I explain?' " This when such stalwarts as Keshab Sen, Vijaykrishna Goswami, and Narendranath were sitting in front of him. There is also no concept of time, no past, no present (some may protest here) and no future. The concept of distance too is Maya. Just a ripple in that ocean of consciousness causes the mirage of infinite worlds. According to Yoga Vasistha, there exists an universe in every atom. In every atom there are fourteen planes of existence, fourteen dimensions really. Even Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara are but threads of Maya. Nothing exists, nothing exists not, that is the true picture. But Thakur tried to avoid such discussions. He wanted the play of Maya to be enjoyed by all. He wanted everybody to taste sugar and enjoy the sweetness. There is no fun in becoming sugar, he said. Great Yogis realise their goal but manage to retain a semblance of consciousness to enjoy the play, only a miniscule fraction of which is available to our five senses. Sage Vasistha talks of a crow named Kaka Bhusundi who survives even all dissolutions. Sages visit him to hear tales of past creations (cycles) all of which Bhusundi has witnessed and remembers. A few stories to regale you. An old brahmana wanted to know of his past life. He was told that his relatives were still mourning around his dead body. His previous body was yet to be cremated and here his life was almost over! A lady wanted to meet the husband of her previous life. She was told she could meet him. She remarked " So is time travel possible? " . The reply was there is no travel just moving from one dimension to another. A king had a dream which seemed very real. He dreamed he was a low caste person but was annointed king of a particular kingdom. The people did not know he was low caste. The day they learnt that he was abandoned. After getting over the dream the king made enquiries. The kingdom did exist, a low caste person had indeed been appointed king. The King visited that kingdom, he recognised the place, his palace, his queens and also his personal belongings. Now what was this? Reality within a dream? Regards, Jagannath.
