Guest guest
Dear Friends, Sharing a few thoughts of mine. Today I applied for volunteering in a hospital in my spare time. I was inspired by the selfless volunteers working there during my short stay. I keep wondering if there is just one way to attain God…meditating continuously, and chanting mantras ? And this thought brings u more thoughts. What about those people who don't really meditate but work selflessly, day and night for the sick and needy to give them whatever little they can? They enjoy doing that. Isn't that a kind of meditation? I know people who meditate vigorously , always talk about God etc. but don't mind hurting people's feelings, still have not been able to come out of their small world of ego. Are they really on the path of attaining God or those who are simple, don't meditate but help other people, help in healing the hurt done by others, selflessly, are more near to God? `That' satisfaction is equal to chanting mantras thousand times. I strongly believe …anything that we do selflessly, which gives us profound inner satisfaction has the capability to lead us to the doors of God. It's so hard to be a GOOD human being…can it be so easy to attain God? Manoshi
Guest guest
I only partly agree with Monoshi's thoughts. I believe that you cannot work selflessly for long and not becoming egotistic without meditation, chanting the name of God, and also seeking the company of holy people. At the same time, if one does these three things, one gets to see God in all and love everyone. That inspires one to serve the needy selflessly. Guest guest
OM. Dear Friend, You know the answer for your question. But still you have been asking this to satisfy your " EGO " . No religious leader in the world said to stop working and meditate on GOD. I quote here the saying of Sri Ramakrishna, " M¤k Phd¤ij milªj ãwF Ú cyf thœ¡ifÆš ãuntá¤jhš cd¡F kd¢ rŠrynk ïU¡fhJ. If you don't know Tamil, the translation is First get hold of GOD and do rest of the things. Then only your mind will be fixed at the target. Most of the Social workers and reformers will go wrong, becoz the social work or reform is not the goal of the life. Selfless work . How can you define that? When you are helping the poor and helpless people, dont you get the happiness and pride of what u do? Then where the selfless thing come here? Most of us think that if we don't expect from others some thing materially or by deeds, then we are doing selfless act. It is not true. This is what spritual leaders refer as " MAYA " . Sri Krihsna in the Bhagavath Gita preached Karma Yoga first. Becoz Argun is a weapon in the battle. But he finishes the Gita with HIS knowledge, then only Argun is cleared and started to fight. This is the lesson. Karma Yoga is way, But to do karma without tangling, you should have Gnana first. I am not a self realised person to give the advice, but without prayers, chanting and knowing oneself, you can't do selfless service. Once you know yourself, GOD will make you to work or sit.
