Question 2) Is anyone here familiar with the ritual in the Tirupati shrine

in India to cut the hair? What is the purpose, objective? Is it like giving

something to god?

Answers) As the citizen of the world you must have seen every religions has

some customs like that there are customs for visiting a temple and

scriptures has clealy mentioned what a devotee should do in a temple. Every

religons has placed grate value to the Head of a human body. In Hinduism

Tonsuring is an act of humility for pilgrims. " The first ritual observed by

most pilgrims when arriving at temple or at a Kumbha mela is the mundana

ceremony, shaving the head. Hair is considered the symbol of vanity, and in

order to receive the full benefits of a pilgrimage to a holy place, one must

first give up vanity. Thus, the pilgrims believe that the hair should be

shaven from the head in a gesture of surrender and humility. "

Not only in Tirupathi most of the temple this practice is followed. Apart

from temple every hindu where he needs to feel surrender he follows this

act. Example is at the death cermoneys.

Question 3) What is done with the hair? Is it sold? Where?

Answer: This is common question What you do when you have something excess?

What you do for your old ancestral house which is about to collapse?

Definitely you will dispose it for the needy person.

Similarly Just visulaise the amount of Hair a temple recives from the

devotees. It will be actioned for the people who can better utilize it.
