Guest guest
Dear Sister Ratna, Please accept my greetings. I think the issue of the need for a Guru has already been discussed on this list. However I'll give my minimum comments on this. Think of your life. Are you what you are without anybody's help? In your childhood you depended on your parents. In your student days you depended on your teachers and friends. In your youth you depended on the societies role models. In your married life you depend on your husband and children. In your old age you depend on your children. So how can you say that those seeking a Guru for spiritual life are superstitious? The only thing you must take care of is you accept a Guru who is enlightened. The qualities necessary in a Guru are; 1. He should be a shithapragyan. 2. He should be well versed in the scriptures. 3. He should not take on disciples for financial gains. 4. He should be genuinely interested in the welfare of his disciples. 5. He should act according to his preachings and be a role model. 6. He should not take recourse to his spiritual powers to attract disciples. 7. A genuine Guru also does not advertise himself. He lets his good work speak for themselves. Love & regards, Jagannath.
