Dear Friends,

Ladies also benefit from abstinence as it saves the sexual energy. Though they

don't produce semen the preservation of body fluids in them also serve the same

purpose. Abstinence results in better health, mental clarity, less headaches and

abrupt mood changes, less emotional outbursts, less painful PMS and backaches.

However Ayurveda says sex once a month helps keep the reproductive system

healthy in case of married ladies in the child bearing age.

Plato, the Greek philosopher, was asked about the frequency of sex. He kept

quiet at first meaning total abstinence. Upon persistence he agreed for once a

year and then for once a month. On being pressed further he said, " Be prepared

to loose one year of your life for the number of times you mate in a month " . No

wonder his wife hated him!

The human race is poised for a decimation. All factors point to this. So

abstinence will never be a mass movement in this age. However intelligent and

knowledgeable people should be aware of the facts and act accordingly. In the

least, they will save a lot in medical bills. I have always advocated through

these columns the adoption of homoeopathic and Ayurvedic systems of treatment to

get rid of excess passions and lead a healthy life.

Sri Ramakrishna said, " Let the bad semen flow. After some time it will be

checked by itself. But never let it go artificially " . Sound advice for this age.

Regards,

Jagannath.
