Guest guest
(RECORDED BY MISS S. E. WALDO, A DISCIPLE) - TUESDAY, June 25, 1895. After every happiness comes misery; they may be far apart or near. The more advanced the soul, the more quickly does one follow the other. What we want is neither happiness nor misery. Both make us forget our true nature; both are chains — one iron, one gold; behind both is the Atman, who knows neither happiness nor misery. These are states and states must ever change; but the nature of the Soul is bliss, peace, unchanging. We have not to get it, we have it; only wash away the dross and see it. _____________ Today we continue the teachings of Swami Vivekananda's called Inspired Talks (Delivered in Thousand Island Park on the St. Lawrence Seaway, in New York state in 1895.) It can be found in Volume 7 of the Complete Works of Vivekananda. This is a part of a daily study of the lectures and writings of Swami Vivekananda. All lectures are sent out in sequenced form, as he spoke them. Please tell a friend about this Vivekananda Mailing (VML) list and study group.
