Guest guest
Dear List, Let us share our experiences in London. Today has been an exhausting and satisfactory day indeed. Advanced level Hinduism examinations in the morning The morning started with our candidates sitting for Advanced level examination set by London University Board. The questions on Philosophy of Religion Module touching on topics like:- (a) Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of argument for existence of God based on religious experience... The questions on Hinduism Module like:- Examine the context of the modern development of Hinduism and analyse the significance of (i) Ramakrishna in this development.. As you can see the modules are well geared for presenting the key teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The educational work we do through our centre is paying dividends. St Ethelberga's Church in the afternoon In the afternoon we had to offer a talk at one of the most ancient restored churches in the City of London - 'St Ethelberga's in Bishopsgate'. The topic: " Religious Pluralism. " At the end of the talk the Chairperson, Sir Sigmund asked, " You have spoken well but can you tell us a bit more about this 'Vivekananda'? ..Why have we not heard of him before? .......Our response, " Because he did not start a movement in his name, as that would have gone against everything he stood for which is: " The most Comprehensive Spirituality the world has ever witnessed " ... The talk was well received. It is encounters like these that make us very confident that London is the place where Swami Vivekananda's legacy will gather momentum. Willesden Green temple class in the Evening. The day ended with a Hinduism class in a temple. This was the final session for this academic year. The love and gratitude expressed by all the students was very touching..... A little boy of 6 called 'Purushottam' offered us a token present for running the classes. " Purushottam is pleased with us " ....what more can one ask for? jay Vivekananda Centre London
