Guest guest
Following response came from Kalidas on the documentary. We had to edit out the whole of the earlier message. May we remind the list members to 'remove' the earlier portions of the message as otherwise they are re-posted endlessly??........................jay ==================mesg from Kalidas=============== Dear Friends, Whilst I agree that there may well be some prejudice involved in the British media coverage of Hinduism in general, there are one or two points that I would like to make. Firstly, with regard to the 'This World' documentary about Sai Baba - I have no idea whether the allegations are true or not. Having watched one of SB's alleged victims telling his story, I do think there are very serious doubts, and the lack of any proper investigation by the Indian authorities probably means this will remain an area of doubt and uncertainty for some time to come. The point is that I doubt there would ever have been a Documentary about Sai Baba unless there was some scandal or allegation - I imagine that the controllers of Uk TV stations see Hinduism as a looser in the 'ratings war'. This is why I doubt we will ever see a serious documentary about Swami Vivekananda - there is no dirt to dig! It really does seem that simple to me. However, I would also remind members that Channel 4 did screen the 'Mahabarhata' in it's entirety some years ago. There was talk of them showing 'Ramayana' also, but this never seems to have happened. On the whole, British TV is 'dumbed down' these days, so even were they to attempt something about Sri Ramakrishna and Vivekananda,I doubt it would be of very high quality. Nonetheless, It would be great to see more spiritually oriented programming, and certainly more on Hinduism. Regards Kalidas.
