Guest guest
Shri Hari !! Hello, As far as my knowledge goes, it is not mentioned in the Vedas that eating vegeterian is absolutely necessary. Moreover research says that Indian Brahmins, the Aryans used to eat beef, cow which the Hindus worship. If you consider the concept of Ahimsa, even eating plants is Himsa as it kills a living organism. Moreover, we monks eat non-veg/veg as it does not matter till your mind is clear. Referring to B.K.S. Iyengar's " LIGHT ON YOGA " it has been mentioned that a Yogi EVENTUALLY becomes a vegeterian if he practices Asteya, i.e. non-covetousness. It all depends on your mind. If you do not feel from inside of eating non-veg then do not. Even Sri Ramakrishna used to eat fish. If your mind is clear then food does not matter. But you must eat food not to statiate your taste buds but to satiate your hunger. Non-veg foods are good to eat and hence they satisfy your taste buds and you go on eating more than you need, as a result you fall in the trap of satisfying your senses, moving away from the real objective, i.e. hunger. -- Vikshuk Shri Ramkrishna Arpana Mastu Om!
