Dear Friends,

I cannot but express my appreciation for the mails of Selvaratnam and Hafizullah

Saheb. It gave me immense pleasure to go through them.

Yes, the temples we have are but expressions of the human shape in relation to

the divine. If we visit temples regularly with the views put forward by

Selvaratnam, i.e. observe both internal and external purity in those days, we

achieve a lot. Earlier people used to observe fasts to purify themselves.

Nowadays due to various problems we cannot observe them. We can instead visit

temples once in a while to obtain the same benefits.

This was the first time I came to know of the Pali Padam in South Indian

temples. What a wonderful concept! To leave your mental impurities and ego

before visiting the Lord ! If we want to visit the Lord within the temple of

our body too the same applies. We just have to leave all our vanities, our ego

and our mental impurities before we can sense His presence.

Hafizullah Saheb, that was an immensely enjoyable parable you wrote in your

mail. It reminded me of the stories of Mullah Naseeruddin. Islamic literature

abounds in such intelligent and humorous parables. Our forefathers may not have

had the external comforts of life we have today. But they seemed to be none the

worse for that. They not only enjoyed their own lives but also ensured that

others stayed happy too!

Love & regards,

Jagannath.
