The work of the Vivekananda Centre London continues....

We are now recognised as the key advisor on Religious education in the UK. This

morning we had a meeting with the Department of Education and The Qualification

and Curriculum Authority to discuss the new framework for Religious education

that will become operational in the UK in the very near future. We have been

assured that the material we had suggested in religious education is

incorporated in the new framework. Modern Hinduism will be presented as:

(a) Divinity of Man

(b) Reconciling Religions with Rationality

© Religious Pluralism

(d) Spirituality is not the subject matter of only religions but of modern

science.

(e) Contemporary Hinduism rather than the antiquated version promoted by Western

academics.

So overall it has been a satisfactory day. We know that within five years the

philosophy of religion module in the United Kingdom will be dominated by

Hinduism thanks to Swami Vivekananda's teachings.

Tomorrow we do a recording with BBC radio 4 on the very important distinction

between

" Hereditary Caste " & " Caste. "

Next Monday we talk about the relevance of Swami Vivekananda & Sri Ramakrishna

at a church in Leicester.....Such events would have been unthinkable a few

years.London is moving ahead quite briskly.

Next month we take Hindu teachings to the postgraduate students at a mainstream

Muslim College in London.

Jay,

Best wishes for the upcoming event. Good to know that the message of

Swamiji is pervading the world.

I would appreciate it if you could send the gist of your remarks (or

even a transcript or Internet link to the interview, if available) on

" Hereditary Caste " & " Caste. " It would help answer many of the

questions I have seen raised on this topic.

Thanks and regards,

Girish

Dear Jay,

I am going through some historic papers by P N Oak which suggest that the Kaaba

stone is Shiva! He has provided with a lot of historical evidence to

substantiate his findings. In my boyhood I used to hear from a great sanskrit

scholar Pandit Sri Srijib Nyayatirtha (son of Pandit Panchanan Tarkaratna of

Bhatpara) that Kaaba is " Makkeswara Shiva " . I would be interested to clarify

this! As we know Moon is painted across the forehead of Shiva, this symbol is

associated with kaaba, it came to be grafted on the flag of Islam. Symbol of

Ganga exist near kaaba as zam-zam water. Pilgrims at Makkah collect this water

even today when they perform Haj! The use of " Unstitched Cloth to wrap up body "

is another symbolic gesture hindus follow is also used . The crescent moon,Ganga

and Shiva linga all together is found! People going around Kaaba seven times is

also another hindu way of circumambulation around their deities! Unani is just

the Arabic name for the Ayurvedic system of healing taught to

them in Arabia when it was part of Vikramaditya empire!!

This is all mind boggling stuff I am going through, please clarify if you can.

Joy Ramakrishna jagatguru. Joy Paramahamsa. Sarva Dharma Samanaya is not too

far. May God bless us all and bind us with the cement of

Love,Daya,Maitri,Karuna.Prema,Kshama and all the things that count.
