Guest guest
Dear Mr Nair, Respectful Namaskar. Of course you can live a life of utmost purity even if you do not stay within the ramparts of an ashram or a monastery. In fact such people are more numerous than all the monks and brahmacharis put together. What I humbly suggest you do is; 1. Decide on which path you want to follow. 2. Study and enquire about the path before you commit yourself. 3. Talk with people who follow that path and listen to their experiences. 4. Decide on your Ishta. 5. Ask your Ishta to direct you to your Guru. 6. Take initiation from your Guru. Carefully listen to all instructions he has to offer. Be absolutely clear about the pronounciation and the meaning of the mantra you receive. ry to solve your doubts on the spot. Be extremely attentive during the whole episode. 7. Do your regular japa and meditation as suggested by your Guru. Increase the practice very slowly. 8. Be in constant touch with the ashram from where you receive the initiation. 9. Do some voluntary work for them. This will help you be in close touch with the monks and brahmacharis of the ashram. 10. Never get involved in any kind of politics, within the monastery or without. Stay detached. Avoid social work outside the ashram. You may be sucked into all kinds of politics. 11. Make self introspection and spiritual study a part of your routine. Study the lives of great saints. 12. Look upon all women as your mother. Even if you call them sister, always remember that in reality they are your mother. 13. Never be unnecessarily close with any devotee of the opposite sex. Never fail to address them as sister or mother/aunty. 14. Earn your income honestly, spend judiciously and donate for a good cause. 15. Remember your Guru and Ishta as much as possible. 16. Attend all the ceremonies in the ashram. 17. Choose your friends with extreme caution. 18. Never indulge in unnecessary talk. Never talk against anybody. 19. Avoid negative emotions. Turn them towards your Ishta and pray to be delivered from them. 20. Be sincere to the core of your heart. 21. Serve your parents dutifully. Please do not think I am sermonising you. I am just trying to be helpful. Kind regards, Jagannath.================from Nair===========Namasthe,Can you please tell me is it necessary for a lonely person who is determinedto follow the path of spirituality remain in any ashram or math to attainhis goal.
